ABOUT US

Sonkai is a family business, owned by goldsmith Craig Snape and partner Sara Sweet.

The name comes from the Romany word for gold and the logo is the symbol for gold in alchemy.

Craig was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, becoming an apprentice goldsmith after leaving school. He qualified after just 2 years into a 4 year course, winning the Apprentice of the Year award along the way.

We purchased the business in 2006 and have been making our growing number of customers happy ever since with the unique service we provide, carrying out alterations, repairs, restorations and handmade commissions all on-site and by Craig himself.

Recently we have started the exciting and lengthy process of designing and manufacturing our own ranges.
